Here’s something quite alarming from Buddy Wheeler as seen under a cheap USB microscope. The top is the brand “Metal Mafia” and the bottom is the brand Anatometal.
The top one is noticeably unfinished and not polished. The cracking is from the bending of the jewelry through the manufacturing process. Hand polishing should be done after to smooth the stress marks.
What does this mean? The top one has microscopic seams which will trap bacteria and cause an infection risk. The seams will also tear the piercing every time it moves causing delayed healing, scar tissue and even migration/rejection.
Not all body jewelry is created equal and there is a reason some shops’ prices are double of the “discount” shop.
Worth the knowledge.
